19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from March of 2023.
The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.
Moutet saved four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
